Pastor Michel in Washington, DC

April 22, 2010

Lydia & Pastor Michel Ouedraogo have spent almost three weeks in The United States visiting potential supporters and friends. It has been an incredible time where everywhere we went we were met with open arms and recommendations to meet someone else. We are not sure where this is going but we have more and more incredible people joining with us.

We will keep adding information about this visit over the next few weeks.

Among many highlights, our trip began in Washington DC, where we visited many Government offices. We first stopped at USAID were we were openly met by Ari Alexander– The Deputy Director of Faith Based and Community Initiative. Ari was able to guide us through the USAID process and will be assisting us to make contact with the proper individuals from Burkina Faso.

We also spent an evening in a Russell Senate Office Building conference room with our host Steve Wymer who is the Communications adviser, minority staff, Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Steve assembled senate staffers and associates to primarily listen to the vision of The Light of Hope University in Burkina Faso. It was a great group of people who immediately embraced the vision. We are very excited about the support in Washington from this terrific group.

We also had the opportunity to visit with the Burkina Faso Ambassador to the United States. Ambassador Paramanga Ernest Yonli met with us and reviewed the plans for the University. He has invited us to meet with him on our trip in November to Ouagadougou. He would like to visit The Village of Hope, The Word of Hope deaf school and the grounds that have been set aside for The Light of Hope University.
