Colorado Springs and back to Burkina Faso

May 17, 2010

Pastor Michel’s visit also took us to Colorado Springs early one morning to visit EMI and attend their Friday morning monthly worship. We gathered with all of the staff in the atrium of their offices, worshipped, listened to the Pastor preach in front of a world map where we could also see the incredible work that EMI has produced all over the world.

Afterwards the staff and Karl Van Cura who had produced and had donated his time and others from his company presented the AHI staff with a replica model of the Light of Hope University. Karl drove ten hours across the plains each way to see the Pastor and Lydia again and to deliver the model. We are forever grateful.

Proverbs 15:30

During lunch, we were served with a very specially prepared Colorado barbeque by Marilyn & Bob Smith of EMI and their family.

Later that day we had the opportunity to be introduced to members of Compassion International by Melissa Cairns who we had met the week before in Washington, DC. Melissa was very helpful in introducing us to two different groups during the afternoon.

We first met Jonathan Linscombe who is the IPG Church Engagement Manager and then we spent sometime with Natalie Gbandawa, Church Engagement Manager, USA.  We are grateful to all at Compassion who spent time with us.

Please pray that Compassion can help with some of the needs of children in Ouagadougou.

Compassion International is an awesome organization that really makes a difference around the world. In case you are not familiar with, check them out at www.compassioninternational.org.

“Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, gentleness, and patience”

Colossians 3:12

The Pastor wrapped up his trip with various meetings and receptions of individuals and friends. He also helped load  a container  of food, computers, furniture and more headed to Burkina Faso donated from Christian World Outreach and Grace Chapel. He and Lydia headed back to Burkina Faso on Monday April 26th to attend to their daily duties of taking care of 455 children at the Village of Hope, 175 children at the deaf school, a couple of medical clinics, several churches and the Pastors new responsibilities as President of Assemblies of God churches with 5000 pastors working with him.  He is an untiring servant of the Lord.

” For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this victory that has overcome the world- our faith”

1 John 5:4

Traveling and going to numerous meetings with Pastor Michel was  a lifetime worth of inspiration and motivation filled with the Holy Spirit. We can help with these initiatives and we are hopeful that you see a way in your heart to join us.

Pastor Michel’s Visit to the USA ( continued)

May 11, 2010

Pastor  Michel Ouedraogo visit continued non-stop for three weeks, as he spent an extra week because of the volcano in Iceland prevented his return home. We were able to use the extra week with Pastor Michel to visit many more friends and new supporters.

We had the opportunity to visit with executives of a large Christian University, to explain the Pastors vision and seek their counsel and support. We are praying that this vision will touch the heart of the University and its board to join us for the future.

This is the day the Lord has made , let us rejoice and be glad in it”

Psalms 118:24

Pastor Michel the following weekend  also attended a conference of Christian world leaders in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and established several new supporters and friends.

When Pastor Michel arrived in Colorado, the days were early to late. The first morning included an early morning visit to a Men’s bible study at the Denver First Church of Nazarene, where men gathered to listen to the Pastor and embrace his enthusiasm. As a result of that meeting several days later he and members of the African Hope Initiative met with Bishop Philip Porter, the former chairman of the board of Promise Keepers. He and the Pastor had an immediate connection for a need for Men’s ministry in Africa, and we are presently on a path to begin the teaching of Pastors in Burkina Faso late this summer. Pastor Michel  was recently appointed to the position of President of The Assemblies of God Church in Burkina Faso and has approximately 5000 pastors working with him.

During the week , we were able to meet in the evening with a group of CEO’s in the Denver Tech Center. It was a diverse group of executives who added enthusiasm, guidance and support. We are very grateful to Adil Khan CEO of Amplidyne  for pulling the group together and our host Sami Miro, Founder of S.A. Miro,Inc.

Later that week we were again at an early morning bible study with men from Littleton, Colorado and as a result of that meeting, we were introduced to the Executive Director Camiilla Seabolt of International Community Bible Study headquarters in Colorado Springs. At the end of that week we were able to meet with Camilla and Rob Clague, Director of International Operations. The Pastor explained the need they have for more formalized Bible Study and the meeting was filled with enthusiasm, as Community Bible Study  International had recently started to focus on Africa and was looking for partners. The Pastor being the President of the Assemblies of God Church was able to give a place for CBS to start quickly. It also turned out that CBSI had the courses already in French and then the meeting just swelled into God’s work and off we go. With your continued prayer it appears that a senior team Frank & Marian Vroegop from CBSI will under the leadership of Maury Kapsner-CBSI Director – Africa- head to Burkina Faso early this fall. Please continue to pray as these doors are becoming wide open to help our Christian partners and friends in Africa. CBSI Is an awesome organization filled with passion.
